The 18th edition of Marie-Galante Festival, Terre de Blues, will celebrate the 100th anniversary of GUY TIROLIEN, Afro-Caribbean poet and emblematic figure of the island.
From JUNE 2 to 5 2017:
4 days of festivities with prodigious artists including Malika Tirolien, Faada Freddy and Sizzla!
The Region Guadeloupe, the Community of Communes and the Tourist Office of Marie-Galante are particularly proud to announce, on this poet anniversary day, the 18th edition of Festival Terre de Blues, that will honour the posthumous godfather Guy Tirolien.
Born in Pointe-a-Pitre, this farmer’s grandson, was deeply devoted to the island of Marie-Galante, where he died in 1988. The poet conveys in his poems that music comes before rhythm ... it is not a question of "suave melodies, but a melody which keeps a man in his dignity." It was legitimate for Terre de Blues Festival to pay tribute to the artist who opens the poetic collection Balles d'Or with a poem called "Marie-Galante"
Guy Tirolien, whose "Prayer of a little Negro child" travelled all over the world, embodies the mouthpiece of a philosophy, a reflection, more than ever present. A mindset that wonder about the relevance of an endogenous model in the development of our island. In this respect, artistically speaking, for this 18th edition, Terre de Blues Festival is committed in promoting militancy, cultural resistance, impertinence and insubordination.
Thus, the organizers reveal three names that will be performing on Festival Terre de Blues 2017 stage, at the Habitation Murat:
WELCOME to MARIE-GALANTE, FOR THE 18TH EDITION OF TERRE DE BLUES FESTIVAL, A MUSICAL, CULINARY, MEMORABLE CULTURAL EXPERIENCE! "VIBREZ MARIE-GALANTE !"(FEEL THE MARIE GALANTE VIBES!)
