In 2000, the Common Authority of Communes of Marie-Galante decided to create their festival. Fisrt called “ Créole Blues” at that time , the festival’s name will be changed for the 6th edition in 2005 as “ Terre de Blues” . In 2016, the Région Guadeloupe joined the organisation looking forward to support and maintain the high quality of a festival that spotlight Guadeloupe all around the world.
The Common Authority of Communes of Marie-Galante, the Tourism Office and the organizers kept in mind their first idea to gather and make a connexion between the tree St Louis: St louis, the heart of American blues in the 1930’s, St Louis in Senegal, significant place in African history, and St Louis in Marie-Galante. The tree St Louis are meeting around the music born from all these sonorities.
Each year for Pentecost week-end, the festival hosts incredible artists that strengthen this connexion troughout their music.
